Adopting a data driven approach in healthcare is not something that will happen by itself. Clinicians already know they need to understand patient data better, maybe because they need to audit their department’s performance, or report on quality targets. However the change from reactive need to the proactive engagement that is needed to drive cultural change, is a much more significant one, and will rely on innovation and collaboration from a range of organisations, including hospitals, technology companies, clinical research units and clinical professional bodies, all operating with the benefit of the whole system in mind.
Our role in this is a small but important one. We think that demonstrating the art of the possible is the first step to bringing this collaboration together and we aim to work with and bring together like-minded organisations.
